When it comes to room décor, most of us tend to overlook the power of our cabinets. Sure, we understand they are needed, and we use them to store everything from magazines to blankets and cords. But, how many of us have ever taken a seat on our sofa set and thought about whether our choices in cabinet styles add to, or detract from, the overall look of our room? Not many.
The truth is that the cabinets you choose to mount on the wall or slide against a corner do more than house the stuff you would rather not have lying around. They give the room a sense of boundaries and set the tone for the rest of the decorations. These days, there are almost as many options in cabinet styles as there are homes to install them in. As more of us take a step away from the traditional and opt for more unique furniture options, cabinet manufacturers have taken notice and have upped the ante with some of their creations.
The next time you find yourself with a few free minutes, have a seat in the middle of your room and take a good look around. Are your cabinets helping or hurting the overall aesthetic of the room? And, what are you going to do about it?
